Spoken English & common mistakes: – Some common mistakes in Spoken English while converting Hindi to English.
We commit mistakes mostly because our thinking is in the native language & we are trying to convert it into English. Every language has its own rules for making sentences. We need to follow a structured pattern to make sentences meaningful. We often make mistakes when we are translating word by word to other languages, instead, we must intercept the meaning & then according to the other language, in which we have to translate, we must frame the sentence.
For e.g,
- He is boastful.
If the people will translate word by word, it will be He is talking in the air. (Boastful is the correct word)
2. There is a slight/ little difference.
If the people will translate word by word, it will be there is a 19-20 difference. (Slight or little is the correct word)
- Small children are playing in the garden.
If the people will translate word by word, it will be small- small children are playing in the garden. (No need to repeat the same word)
- I went there 2 years back.

- She will return after 2 years.
If the people will translate word by word, she will return next to next year. (Replace with next)
- My cousin is getting married.
If the people will translate word by word, my cousin’s sister/ brother is getting married. (No need to mention gender)
- I was glad to visit my native.
If the people will translate word by word, I was glad to visit my native place. (Native means birthplace)
- What is your name?
If the people will translate word by word, what is your good name? (Name is neither good nor bad)
- Where are you living? Or where do you live?
If the people will translate word by word, where are you putting up?
- Please repeat the number.
If the people will translate word by word, please repeat the number once again. (“Re” word includes again)
- Inclusive of all taxes

- Please reconfirm
